THE ST. JOHN'S SPCA LAUNCHES SPAY/NEUTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
We are very proud to announce the start of our SPAY/NEUTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR CAT OWNERS.
Why Spay or Neuter Your Cat?
One litter is too many! There are not enough homes for all the cats born. Neutered and spayed cats are happier and healthier. And most importantly, they do not contribute to the over-population problem.
Be part of the solution, have your cat spayed or neutered.
For just $55 you can have your cat spayed or neutered with our program if you meet certain criteria.
This program is designed to help those cat owners who live on the Avalon Peninsula. Cat owners in the City of St. John's are asked to contact Humane Services at 3-1-1 on the details of their assistance program.
We are hoping to expand it to include dogs in the near future. The bottom line is that there are too many animals and not enough homes.
We are very excited about this program and feel strongly that this will help control our pet overpopulation and in turn reduce our euthanasia rate.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
• The St. John’s SPCA recognizes the need to reduce the number of kittens being born. One female cat can have as many as THREE litters a year. As a result, there are thousands of unwanted cats in our province that are suffering.
• The SPCA’s program is for cat owners on the Avalon Peninsula only.
• Pet owners in St. John’s should contact the City of St. John’s Humane Services Division (Call 311) for information about their Spay/Neuter Program.
• Applicants will be assessed based on financial need. Your net family income must be under $25,000 in order to qualify for the program.
• This program would not be possible without the support of the public and the following veterinary clinics:
Terra Nova Veterinary Hospital (Howley Estates)
St. John’s Veterinary Hospital (Freshwater Road)
Topsail Road Vet (Topsail Road)
Sunrise Animal Hospital (Mount Pearl)
Torbay Road Vet (Coaker's Meadow Plaza)
Paradise Animal Hospital (Paradise)
Baccalieu Trail Animal Hospital (Bay Roberts)
